Africa & Migration: Analysis – Future of Journalism Education – E-Learning!

The "AMAZE!" project started in early May at the Erich-Brost-Institute (EBI). The first phase involves a cross-continental comparative analysis of media coverage on migration between Europe and Africa, as well as within the African continent.

Coordinated by EBI, universities from more than ten different European and African countries have joined forces to analyze their own national contexts and to comparatively examine the differences and similarities with other countries. These findings will also be used to further develop e-learning modules for the journalism training platform we are currently developing in the CoMMPASS project .

The study includes partner universities in Uganda, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, Libya, Poland, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Spain, Latvia, Norway, and Italy. The study builds on a previous one, which was published in 2022 as a paper titled "Covering Migration – in Africa and Europe: Results from a Comparative Analysis of 11 Countries" in "Journalism Practice."

In addition to the analysis and the development of the journalism training platform, a Training-of-Trainers (T-o-T) project for young African journalism educators defines the third component of the "AMAZE!" project in form of an Autumn School this October.
