CoMMPASS first in-presence meeting in Kampala

All the CoMMPASS project partners came together for their first ever regular meeting in Kampala, Uganda.

Makerere University, which has just celebrated its centenary, organised an international conference with great fanfare, kicking off the project. Initially, protocol meetings provided an opportunity to meet the Vice-Chancellor and the heads of the various schools and departments involved in the project. An international conference then brought together journalists, researchers, and representatives of civil society to discuss the relationship between migrants and the media and to present the current challenges of media coverage of migration in Africa. Finally, an internal meeting was held to validate the first documents, in particular the partnership agreement and the management plan.

The Erasmus+ CoMMPASS project aims to create an online course in four languages on media coverage of migration for future and current journalists in sub-Saharan Africa.
